Walton Earns Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week Honors

GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado freshman Gillian Walton has been named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week following her standout performance in the Bears' opening week of conference play, the conference announced Monday.
Walton helped lead Northern Colorado to a 2-0 week to open Big Sky play, highlighted by a career-best performance against Montana. The freshman recorded a career-high 20 kills in the Bears' conference-opening victory, hitting .359 on 39 attacks while adding six digs.
The 20-kill performance marked the first 20-kill match of Walton's career and helped Northern Colorado earn its first conference victory of the season.
Through the opening two conference matches, Walton leads the Bears with 32 kills, averaging 4.57 kills per set while hitting .308.Â
The weekly honor marks the first Big Sky Player of the Week award of Walton's career.
