GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado volleyball continued its strong start to Big Sky Conference play Saturday, sweeping Montana State 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-23) at Bank of Colorado Arena.

The Bears improved to 6-7 overall and 2-0 in Big Sky play with the victory, while Montana State fell to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in conference action. Northern Colorado finished with 39 kills and hit .212 as a team.

Gillian Walton led the Bears offensively with 12 kills on 26 attacks, while Alayna Tessena added seven kills and three service aces. Summer Snead and Maddie Rink each contributed six kills, with Snead hitting .286 in the afternoon.

Northern Colorado controlled the opening set from the start, earning a 25-21 victory. The Bears carried that momentum into the second set, cruising to a 25-16 set win.

The Bobcats battled in the third set, but UNC closed out the sweep with a 25-23 victory to remain unbeaten through two matches of Big Sky play.

Nerea Alvarez Jorge directed the offense with 30 assists while Bella LePore anchored the defense with 16 digs. The Bears finished with 47 digs as a team.

ON DECK: Northern Colorado returns to action next week when the Bears continue Big Sky Conference play on the road heading to St. George, Utah to take on Utah Tech before traveling to Cedar City to face Southern Utah on Saturday.
