FARGO, N.D. – Northern Colorado baseball mounted a late comeback effort, but a big seventh inning by North Dakota State proved to be the difference in a loss Saturday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.

The Bears chipped away offensively and showed fight down the stretch, but North Dakota State used a five-run second inning and a six-run seventh to create separation. Northern Colorado responded with three runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to cut into the deficit, but the rally came up short.

UNC totaled nine hits on the afternoon, led by Logan Pruski and Jake Bullard with two hits apiece. Pruski finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Bullard went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Easton Bryant delivered the biggest swing for the Bears, launching a three-run home run as part of his three-RBI performance. Mason Griffin added an RBI, and Brandon Sanchez also drove in a run. Northern Colorado remained disciplined at the plate, drawing seven walks in the contest.

Jake Storey started on the mound for the Bears, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings. Ethan Louthan provided middle relief, working 4.1 innings and surrendering five runs.

Jax Pfister and Mac Hibben closed out the game, with Hibben delivering a scoreless inning.

Despite settling in late on the mound, the Bears were unable to overcome North Dakota State's scoring outbursts.
