GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado travels to Logan, Utah, on Friday for the USU Steve Reeder Memorial Meet, hosted at the Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course. The men race a 7K at 11 a.m. MT, with the women following in a 5K at 11:45 a.m. MT.
It marks the third meet of the fall for the Bears under first-year head coach Nick Maas.
The Course
The Reeder course opens and closes on grass, with the bulk of the race run on crushed gravel paths and a 450-meter grass loop. Scoring is invitational, with each team's top five finishers counting and the sixth and seventh runners used to displace.
Women's 5K
Northern Colorado's women have been paced by Sabina Stroia in both meets this season. Stroia opened the year with a 15th-place finish at the Wyoming Invite in 19:08.50, then ran 23:05.1 at the MSU Denver Roadrunner Invite to lead the Bears again.
Brooke Elfert and Claire Nowels have been close behind all fall, finishing 25th and 26th at Wyoming and 27th and 24th at Denver. Sofia Cambridge, Taylor Sheldon, Braelyn Gifford, Jordain Stutzman and Isabella Lemus round out the group.
Friday marks a return to the 5K distance for the Bears, who ran a 5K at Wyoming before moving up to 6K at Denver. Stroia's 19:08.50 from the season opener is the squad's fastest 5K of the year.
