UNC Falls 1-0 to CSU in Tight Rivalry Match

Fort Collins, Colo. – In a spirited in-state rivalry clash, the Northern Colorado soccer team put forth a strong effort but came up just short, falling 1-0 to Colorado State on Thursday evening at CSU Soccer Field.
The Bears generated several promising scoring chances throughout the match, showcasing energy and resilience on both ends of the field. However, despite their attacking efforts and disciplined play, UNC was unable to capitalize in the final third. A first-half goal by the Rams ultimately proved to be the difference in a tightly contested 90 minutes of play.
Head Coach Tim Barrera was encouraged by his team's performance against a high-caliber opponent. "I'm really proud of the effort — I thought we battled," said Barrera. "It was unfortunate to give up a goal off a corner, but I think the players really stepped up against a good team that's getting national votes. Overall, I'm super pleased. Disappointed with the loss, of course, but this is something we can build on."
Kaya Lindberg finished the game with six saves.
With the loss, Northern Colorado moves to 1-3-2 on the season. The Bears will now shift their focus to a quick turnaround as they return home to Jackson Stadium for another in-state showdown — this time against Colorado College.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, as the Bears look to bounce back and return to the win column in front of their home crowd.
