ERIE, Colo. – The Northern Colorado men's golf team wrapped up play at the Mark Simpson Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Colorado National Golf Club. After three days of competition, the Bears finished in 17th place, shooting 10-over par as a team across three rounds.
Leading the way for UNC was Cooper Tate, who continued his strong fall season with another top five finish. Tate showed consistency and determination, opening with a six-under 66 in the first round, following it up with a five-under 67 in round two, and closing with an even-par 72. His performance earned him a 5th-place finish on the player leader board.
Kaelen Dulany also turned in a strong showing, making a significant jump of 18 spots on the leader board during the final round. He opened with a one-under 71, followed by a two-under 70 in round two. In the final round, he caught fire and shot a five-under 67 putting him in contention late in the tournament.
Tommie Clark finished the event at 15-over par, capping off his tournament with a one-over 73 in the final round. Thomas Barnes Grimes carded a seven-over 79 in the final round and ended the tournament 19-over through three rounds.
With the Mark Simpson Invitational now behind them, the Bears will turn their attention to their final event of the fall season: the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in Monterrey, Mexico, hosted by George Washington University.
