Raoul Leads Bears After Opening Day at Monterrey Collegiate Classic

SAN PEDRO GARZA GARCIA, Mexico – Northern Colorado men's golf wrapped up the opening day of the Monterrey Collegiate Classic on Friday, completing 27 holes at Club Campestre Monterrey. The Bears sit in ninth place at +2 after rounds of 289 (+1) and 145 (+1) in the 12-team field.
UTRGV leads the tournament at 16-under par, followed by VCU and Richmond at 9-under. The event, hosted by George Washington, features teams from across the U.S. competing in 27 holes each day, with the final 27 set for Saturday.
Lucas Raoul paced Northern Colorado through the first two rounds, carding a steady 71 (-1) in Round 1 and a 34 (-2) so far in Round 2 to sit tied for 12th individually at 3-under.
Tommie Clark, Cooper Tate, and Kaelen Dulany each posted matching totals of +2 to sit tied for 39th, while Rowan MacDonald rounded out the Bears' lineup at +6 and tied for 58th.
Competing as an individual, Thomas Barnes Grimes is in 67th at +9.
UNC will look to build on its consistent opening day and make a push up the leaderboard during Saturday's final 27 holes of play.
