Bear Travel West for 2025 Big Sky Outdoor Championship

Northern Colorado Track & Field aims for podium finishes as sprinters, hurdlers, and multis lead the charge at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium.
GREELEY, Colo. – Postseason action heats up this week for Northern Colorado Track & Field as the Bears travel west to compete in the 2025 Big Sky Outdoor Championships. The conference meet runs Wednesday through Saturday, May 14-17, at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State.
Competition kicks off for the Bears on Wednesday with the start of the men's decathlon featuring Ryan Pollyea and Jameson Rembert, while Ciara Piffarerio opens the heptathlon on the women's side. The multis continue Thursday, alongside prelims in several sprint and distance events.
Northern Colorado's sprint corps will be one to watch, especially in the relays. On the men's side, Johnny Fisher, Zander Cruzan, Jerome Campbell, Edgar Garcia, and Floyd Samuels Jr. will lead the charge in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Cruzan and Fisher will also double in the 200m and 400m, showcasing the Bears' speed and versatility.
In the hurdles, Moise Bennett and Campbell will go head-to-head in the 110m hurdles, with Bennett also slated for the 400m intermediate hurdles. Dylan Wilson and Nathan Plant are entered in the 800m, with Wilson also contesting the 1500m. Isaac Rascon rounds out the men's distance squad in the 5000m, while Kaliff Guevara takes on the triple jump.
For the UNC women, the 4x100m relay pool includes Kayla Christiansen, Marely Del Campo, Alison Hoodak, Kiana Van Haaren, and Vannessa Ward—several of whom are also entered in individual sprints. Sherika Thomas will represent in the 100m hurdles, while Shantell Hafner covers both the 800m and 1500m.
In the field, Jaelynn Lane (TJ), Gwen Seelye (javelin), and Alexa Oatman (pole vault) will look to score key points. Ward adds the 400m hurdles to her busy schedule, and Van Haaren is also entered in the long jump.
