Seelye, Guevara Lead Bears on Opening Day at Kit Mayer Classic

UNC posts multiple top-five finishes; Seelye and Lane etch names into program record book
GOLDEN, Colo. – Gwen Seelye cracked the program's all-time top 10 in the javelin and Kaliff Guevara turned in a runner-up finish in the men's triple jump to highlight day one of the Kit Mayer Classic for Northern Colorado Track & Field.
Seelye launched a personal-best toss of 36.02m (118' 2") to place third overall in the javelin and move to No. 6 on the UNC all-time list. In the field, Jaelynn Lane also made history, finishing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.55m (37' 10.75") to claim the No. 9 spot in program history.
The Bears picked up a second-place finish in the men's triple jump thanks to Kaliff Guevara's best mark of 14.55m (47' 9"), while teammate Jaylen Lee followed in fifth at 13.23m (43' 5").
Northern Colorado saw a pair of top-five finishes in the multi-events, with Ryan Pollyea leading the way in the decathlon after day one with 2,230 points. Jameson Rembert sits fourth with 2,104. In the heptathlon, Ciara Piffarerio ended the day in seventh place with 1,237 points.
Alexa Oatman cleared 3.57m (11' 8.5") to finish fifth in the women's pole vault, rounding out a solid day of field event action for the Bears.
