Bears Sweep Doubleheader at Ram Field

Northern Colorado Rides Hot Bats to Wins Over Texas A&M-CC, Colorado State
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Northern Colorado softball swept a doubleheader Saturday, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 11-2 and Colorado State 7-3. Kenzie Carter drove in four runs in Game 1, while Jazzy Longo's two homers powered the Game 2 win.

GAME 1 | NORTHERN COLORADO 11, TEXAS A&M-CC 2
Pitching: (W) Anna Wilming (2-5); (L) K. Winfrey (0-3)
Northern Colorado (6-10) wasted no time in its opener at Ram Field, erupting for seven runs in the first inning en route to an 11-2 run-rule victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Kenzie Carter provided the offensive spark, driving in four runs, including a two-run double in the first. Jazzy Longo and Sabrina Javorsky chipped in with RBI hits as the Bears tallied 14 hits in just five innings.
Anna Wilming went the distance, holding the Islanders to two runs on four hits while striking out three.
Walling set the tone at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base. Quinney scored twice, while Carter capped off the offensive explosion with a clutch RBI double in the fourth.

GAME 2 | NORTHERN COLORADO 7, COLORADO STATE 3
Pitching: (W) I. DiNapoli (4-2); (L) D. Saugstad (3-2)
Northern Colorado kept rolling in the second game, using timely hitting and a complete-game performance from Isabelle DiNapoli to take down in-state rival Colorado State, 7-3.
Jazzy Longo stole the show at the plate, launching two home runs and driving in three runs to lead the offense. Krista Francia added a pair of hits and scored twice, while Amailee Morales doubled home a key insurance run in the fourth. Francia crossed the plate in the top of the seventh thanks to a CSU error to secure the win.
DiNapoli delivered a strong outing, scattering five hits and allowing just two earned runs while striking out two. The senior right-hander kept the Rams off balance all afternoon, working out of multiple jams to secure the victory.
With the sweep, Northern Colorado improves to 6-10 and looks to carry its momentum into tomorrow mornings game against TAMU – CC.
