Bears Collect One Medal, 10 Personal Bests on Day Two of Big Sky Championships

Multiple Bears Advance to Finals, Van Haaren Lands on Podium in Long Jump
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Colorado Track & Field saw several standout performances on Day 2 of the Big Sky Indoor Championships, with multiple Bears advancing to finals and a podium finish in the long jump.
Zander Cruzan led the way for UNC, clocking the top qualifying times in both the 200m (21.21) and 400m (46.44). His 200m mark was a personal best and now ranks third in program history. Donovan Castillo also secured a spot in the 400m final with a season-best 47.53.
In the 60m, Jerome Campbell and Edgar Garcia both advanced, finishing first (6.72) and fourth (6.76) in the prelims, respectively. Garcia's time was a personal best and the second-fastest in UNC history. Campbell doubled back in the 60m hurdles, qualifying second with a time of 7.81.
On the women's side, Wendira Moss punched her ticket to the finals in both the 200m (24.06) and 400m (54.73), while Regina Mpigachai qualified in the 800m with a time of 2:12.20. Kiana Van Haaren secured a podium finish in the long jump, taking third with a leap of 6.16m, tying her personal best and ranking No. 58 in NCAA Division I this season.
In the multi-events, Ryan Pollyea posted a personal-best score of 4,477 points in the heptathlon to place fifth, moving to No. 3 in program history. Moise Bennett and Jameson Rembert also landed top-10 all-time marks for UNC in the event.
Through two days of competition, Northern Colorado's men sit in eighth place with five points, while the women rank eighth with 11 points. The Bears will look to build on their momentum in the final day of competition.
