Bears and Falcons Tied 10-10 After Nine Innings, Will Resume in Colorado Springs April 8
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kai Wagner went 3-for-4, including a home run and a double, in Northern Colorado's first of four matchups with Air Force this season.
The Bears and Falcons battled to a 10-10 draw after nine innings at Erdle Field Tuesday. The teams will resume play April 8, the Bears final trip of the season to Air Force (2-6).
UNC (4-4) battled back from a deficit on two separate occasions to force the draw. The Bears led 1-0 on a solo home run off the bat of Wagner in the top of the first.
Air Force built an 8-1 advantage after four innings, with at least one run in each inning.
The Bears trimmed the margin to 8-4 with three runs in the top of the fifth. Brandon Sanchez and Tony Castonguay sandwiched RBI singles around a run-scoring double by Wagner.
In the sixth, Dalton Miller pulled the Bears to within two at 8-6 with a double to right center, plating Anthony Stellato and Keaton Fisher. Miller advanced to third on a base knock by Sanchez and later scored on a miscue by the defense. Castonguay grounded out but Sanchez crossed the plate with the game-tying tally.
Air Force moved in front 10-8 with solo markers in the home half of the sixth and seventh frames.
Wagner led off the eighth with a single back up the middle and trotted home on Castonguay's fourth-career home run, his first in a Bears jersey.
Sanchez, Castonguay, Miller and Jake King notched two hits each, while Fisher, Carter and N Barber recorded a knock each. Castonguay drove in four runs, while Miller and Wagner accounted for two RBIs each. Sanchez, Wagner and Miller scored twice each.
