GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado wrestling prepares for their first home dual on Friday, December 19 when they host Campbell at Bank of Colorado Arena. This dual will mark the first dual at home for Head Coach Teyon Ware, where the Bears continue to grow and develop through their season and before entering conference matches.
LAST TIME OUT
Northern Colorado wrapped up a competitive tournament earlier this month with several individual highlights and multiple Bears advancing through championship and consolation rounds, finishing seventh overall as a team.
At 125 pounds, Aydan Thomas placed fourth after rebounding from an opening loss with a 4–2 win over Illinois' Caelan Riley before dropping a tight third-place match. Bryson Valdez went 0–2 in the bracket. Ramon Salazar (141) opened with a shutout win but finished 1–2, while KJ Evans advanced to the semifinals, earned a medical-forfeit win, and placed fifth with six team points.
At 149 pounds, Brady Hankin and Emilio Trujillo-Deen each went 1–2, highlighted by Hankin's sudden-victory win and Trujillo-Deen's 11–9 decision. Carlos Stanton was eliminated after two matches. Daishun Powe (157) dropped two close decisions, while Kilian Schultz (165) picked up a win before being eliminated. Logan Glynn, Mahonri Rushton (184), and Enzo Cappabianca (285) were unable to advance after early losses.
Tyler Perry led the way at 197 pounds, rallying from an opening loss to finish 3–2, place fourth, and score six points. Andrew Donahue added a sixth-place finish with a major decision victory at the same weight. Overall, the Bears showed resilience throughout the weekend against a strong field.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Campbell Camels arrive in Greeley carrying a 2–4 overall record, including a 1–0 mark in conference play after opening league action with a win over Presbyterian. While their early-season results have been mixed, Campbell has already shown the ability to compete within the conference.
Looking back to the 2024 season, the Camels put together a strong campaign, finishing 11–9 overall and posting an impressive 7–1 conference record. That performance earned Campbell a third-place finish at the SoCon Championships, underscoring the program's consistency and competitiveness heading into the current season.
