GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Wrestling has added Daniel Guanajuato to its roster, Head Coach Teyon Ware announced.
MEET THE SIGNEE
DANIEL GUANAJUATO | 125 | SOUTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY | ELOY, ARIZ. |
Guanajuato, a 125-pound wrestler from Eloy, Arizona, joins the Bears after competing at South Dakota State, where he gained collegiate experience across multiple seasons and open competition opportunities. He will continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Northern Colorado.
During the 2024–25 season, Guanajuato provided depth at 125 pounds and posted an 8-3 record across two open tournaments. He earned a third-place finish at the Dragon Open (12/7) and added a runner-up finish at 57 kg at the U23 U.S. Freestyle Nationals during the offseason, showcasing continued development on the national freestyle stage.
In 2023–24, he redshirted and did not compete while focusing on training in his first year at the collegiate level.
Before his time at South Dakota State, Guanajuato competed extensively in USA Wrestling events and national-level tournaments. He won the Arizona-USA Wrestling National Qualifier in 2021 and placed third in the 106-pound division at the 2020 Arizona Division 4 State Tournament.
Guanajuato brings collegiate experience, freestyle success, and continued upside to the Bears' 125-pound lineup as the program continues to build for the future. He also has a strong wrestling family connection, as his older brother, Davian, competes at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
