Bears Turn in Strong Final Day at UCCS Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado closed out competition at the UCCS Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi with another strong day across the track and field, highlighted by a new addition to the UNC all-time list, multiple podium finishes and a host of personal-best performances.
The men's team was led by Moise Bennett, who capped off a strong weekend by finishing eighth in the heptathlon with 4,454 points. The mark moves Bennett to No. 5 on the UNC Top-10 All-Time list, giving the Bears another record-book performance to close the meet.
Bennett also earned a podium finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals, placing third with a time of 8.36, while Jaydon Sundbye followed in fifth with a personal-best 8.47. In the men's 60-meter dash finals, Johnny Fisher continued his standout weekend, finishing fifth with a personal-best time of 6.98 before returning to the track to take third in the 200 meters at 22.62.
Northern Colorado added depth in the sprints and throws, as Griffin Eastman, Jared Jenson, Maxwell Struefert and Gavin Vinton all competed in the men's 200, while Kaden Waugh placed 11th in the shot put with a mark of 11.74 meters (38'-6.25").
The men's distance group also turned in solid performances in the mile, led by Hunter Kenney's personal-best time of 4:28.59, good for ninth overall. Aaron Roll, Noah Mayoral De Anza and Daniel Watson rounded out the Bears' entries in the event.
On the women's side, April Necaise delivered one of the top performances of the day, placing third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.67 meters (5'-5.75"). The mark ranks tied for seventh on the UNC Top-10 All-Time list and currently sits No. 70 nationally among NCAA Division I competitors. Ciara Piffarerio added an eighth-place finish in the event.
The Bears also saw strong showings in the hurdles and jumps, as Sherika Thomas placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a personal-best time of 8.97. In the triple jump, Savanna Amack recorded a PR mark of 11.27 meters (36'-11.75") to finish ninth, while Tamia John followed in 13th.
Northern Colorado wrapped up the meet with multiple personal bests in the women's mile, led by Sabina Stroia's fourth-place finish in 5:19.71. Ania Magdesian, Lucy Varela and Kynley Albright added top-eight finishes, while Alison Hoodak led the Bears in the 200 meters with a ninth-place result.
UP NEXT: The Bears will take a break over the holiday and continue the indoor season on January 9 and 10 at the Silver & Blue Invitational, hosted by Nevada in Reno.
