Bears Close Front Range Invite with Strong Showing

DENVER – Northern Colorado swimming and diving wrapped up the 2025 Front Range Invite on Saturday afternoon with a strong closing session that featured a victory from Ellyson Lombardi in the 100-yard butterfly and several top finishes across the board at the El Pomar Natatorium.
The Bears opened the day with the 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Agathi Manoli, Rachel Ley, Kyra Rabess, and Martina Yuki Trionfetti placed seventh overall in 1:45.83.
Lombardi highlighted the afternoon with a commanding win in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall first in 55.14 to secure her second individual victory of the meet following Friday's 200 fly title.
In the 400 individual medley, Hlaa Diab led the way with an eighth-place finish in 4:33.10, followed closely by Manoli in ninth (4:34.25).
The 200 freestyle saw senior Kyra Rabess post an eighth-place finish in 1:55.24, while Lora Konter placed 12th (1:56.02) and Vitoria Simioni added a 19th-place swim (1:56.69).
In the 100 breaststroke, Ley finished 14th in 1:08.09, and Hlaa Diab earned 20th (1:08.89). Trionfetti finished third in the 100 backstroke with 56.78, while Alexis Mishler and Ariane Bernier followed behind in 17th (59.10) and 20th (59.46).
In the distance events, Rabess led the Bears in the 1650 freestyle, turning in a fifth-place finish in 17.55.98.
Northern Colorado closed the swimming portion of the meet in the 400 freestyle relay, as Rabess, Trionfetti, Mishler, and Simioni clocked a 3:32.94 to take sixth overall.
At the Cadet Natatorium, Violet Noel paced the Bears in the 1-meter dive with a score of 189.25. Addison Campbell finished 20th (171.35), Mireya Ruiz landed 22nd (156.70), and Meredith Clabaugh rounded out the group in 23rd (148.70).
On the platform, Noel continued to lead the way finishing 12th (133.80). She was followed by Clabaugh (15th, 116.50) and Campbell (16th, 116.50).
The Bears return to Greeley for their home opener on Oct. 11 at Butler-Hancock Pool, facing Idaho in a dual meet beginning at 10 a.m.
