Rabess Wins Women's Title at Horsetooth Open Water Swim

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Northern Colorado's Kyra Rabess captured the women's title and finished fourth overall at the Horsetooth Open Water Swim on September 13, leading a strong Bears contingent that placed all 18 swimmers in the top 60 against Colorado State, Air Force and Colorado School of Mines.
Rabess led the Bears with a dominant performance, finishing first among women and fourth overall with a time of 52:07. The senior covered the course at 2.8 mph, establishing herself as the swimmer to beat in the field.
Right behind her was Emma On-The-Hill, who took fourth among women and eighth overall in 52:29. The sophomore's 2.7 mph pace helped Northern Colorado secure two of the top four female finishes in the event.
The Bears showed impressive depth throughout the women's standings. Audrey Varet placed sixth among women and 19th overall in 52:54, giving Northern Colorado three of the top six female finishers.
The next wave of Bears crossed in tight succession. Ellyson Lombardi finished 10th among women and 25th overall in 55:44, followed closely by Agathi Manoli in 14th among women and 29th overall at 55:51. Ariane Bernier took 15th among women and 30th overall in 55:57, and Anisa Sabovic placed 16th among women and 31st overall in 56:05.
Gabriella Fish finished 17th among women and 32nd overall in 56:09, while Hlaa Diab took 18th among women and 33rd overall in 56:13. Maria Erokhina took 19th among women and 34th overall at 56:34.
The middle of the pack featured Avi Tromp in 22nd among women and 37th overall (58:21), Audrey Vannelli in 23rd among women and 38th overall (58:22), and Linnea Haan in 26th among women and 41st overall (58:32).
Vitoria Simioni finished 32nd among women and 48th overall in 1:00:30, with Martina Yuki Trionfetti right behind in 33rd among women and 49th overall at 1:00:38.
Rounding out the Bears' finishers were Lara Oggionni in 38th among women and 54th overall (1:04:10), Rachel Ley in 39th among women and 55th overall (1:04:17), Alexis Mishler in 41st among women and 57th overall (1:05:27), and Aubrielle Stevens in 42nd among women and 58th overall (1:07:39).
In the men's division, Northern Colorado assistant coach Kyle Ponsler represented the Bears with a strong showing, finishing second overall with a time of 51:34.
