FARMINGTON, Utah – Northern Colorado goalkeeper Kaya Lindberg has been named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Lindberg anchored the Bears' back line with an outstanding weekend in goal, recording 18 saves across two matches while allowing just one goal. Her .947 save percentage ranks third in the Big Sky, and her 0.50 goals-against average is among the best in the conference.
This marks the third Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honor of Lindberg's career, having also earned the award in 2022 and 2024. It is Northern Colorado's second conference player of the week recognition this season, joining Taryn Rea, who received the defensive honor on Aug. 19.
"Kaya did a great job this past weekend making crucial saves in our win against Idaho State and in our battle with Weber," said Head Coach Tim Barrera. "She brings a ton of experience."
The Bears will hit the road for their final two regular-season conference matchups, beginning in Moscow, Idaho, against Idaho on Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. MDT (6 p.m. PDT), before closing out the weekend in Cheney, Washington, to face Eastern Washington on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. MDT (12 p.m. PDT).
