Track & Field Gears Up for Ted Nelson and UCCS Invites

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado track & field splits up this weekend as it continues the 2024-25 indoor season. Part of the team will travel to College Station, Texas, for the Ted Nelson Invitational on Jan. 24-25, while the rest compete at the UCCS Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 25.
TED NELSON INVITATIONAL
The Ted Nelson Invite, hosted by Texas A&M, will feature competition from the SEC, AAC, MWC, and Big 12. UNC will be the sole representative from the Big Sky Conference.
The meet will be livestreamed on the SEC+ Network for fans that are unable to attend, and live results be provided by Flash Results.
The meet starts on Friday, January 24, with the men's weight throw at 3 p.m. On Saturday, January 25, field events begin at 10 a.m. with the men's shot put and pole vault, followed by the women's events. Running events kick off at 9 a.m. with the women's 3000 meters, and the day continues with various sprints, hurdles, and distance races. The projected finish time is around 3:40 p.m.

The meet will be livestreamed on the RMAC Network for fans that are unable to attend, and live results will be provided by Rapid Results.
The meet begins with field events at 11:30 a.m., including the men's weight throw, women's pole vault, and men's long jump. Running events start at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 5,000 meters, followed by the men's 5,000 meters at noon. Key sprints and hurdles prelims take place around midday, with finals for most events beginning at 1:15 p.m. The day concludes with the 4x400-meter relays at 4:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The track and field delivered an impressive showing at the Graduate Classic Invite, highlighted by standout performances and personal bests. Junior Jerome Campbell dominated the men's 60-meter hurdles, winning with a time of 7.69, ranking ninth in the NCAA. Freshmen Zander Cruzan and Floyd Samuels Jr. led in the men's 200 meters, with Cruzan placing fifth (21.74 PB) and Samuels eighth (21.80). Senior Regina Mpigachai excelled in the women's 800 meters, taking first with a time of 2:07.14, also ninth nationally this season. The men's 4x400 relay team capped off the meet with a first-place finish (3:17.77), showcasing the Bears' depth and strength.

The Bears will travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for the New Mexico Team Open, which takes place Jan. 31 – Feb. 1.
