GREELEY, Colo. – Jake Storey and Garrett Fisher earned Summit League All-Academic Team Selections, league officials announced Wednesday.
"This is well deserved," UNC head coach Mike Anderson said. "Jake and Garrett are true examples of Student-Athletes. Their dedication and hard work towards excellence in the classroom is inspiring. Their commitment to development athletically was a reason for our late-season success. Congratulations to both."
Storey, a sophomore pitcher from Frisco, Texas secured a place on the team with a 4.0 GPA in business administration.
Fisher, a designated hitter and catcher from Fort Collins, Colorado completed his undergraduate degree in biological sciences, with a cumulative 3.79 GPA.
UNC, North Dakota State, Omaha and St. Thomas placed two student-athletes each on the squad, representing all six schools. All 10 honorees earned a spot on the team for the first time.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions, except pitchers who must have participated in 20 percent of their team's total contests.
Sports Information Directors from the league's participating members nominate the student-athletes, with voting conducted by both SIDs and faculty athletic representatives. The ten student-athletes with the most votes earn a spot on the team, with all ties standing.
