FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jerome Campbell ran a 13.30 in the 110-meter Hurdles, punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships and establishing a school record for the second time in as many races at the NCAA West Regionals – at John McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus Friday.
" I am so proud and excited for Jerome," Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Wayne Angel said. "His story is one of resilience, overcoming adversity and an unwavering commitment to excellence."
Campbell ran a personal best time of 13.58 March 23 at the Aztec Invitational – hosted by San Diego State and shaved nearly a half second off that time in the last three days. His time in the quarterfinals placed him fifth in the NCAA West Regional, with just one of 24 in the East Regional Quarterfinal running a faster time.
"Jerome came to Fayetteville on a mission and did everything he needed to do to accomplish it," Angel said. "He put himself in a great position as we head to Eugene. It's all about surviving and advancing at this stage of the game. Mission accomplished".
Oregon hosts the semifinals and finals June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon. The top 12 times from both regions compete in the semifinals, with the 12 fastest times advancing to the finals.
