Bears Inch Closer to Summit League Tournament Berth

FARGO, N.D. – Before the first pitch in the series opener between Northern Colorado and North Dakota State, the Bears' magic number to clinch a spot in the Summit League Tournament fell to two Thursday.
South Dakota State fell at home to Omaha 16-6 in eight innings.
UNC fell 9-3 at Newman Outfield Field, remaining a half-game in front of the Jackrabbits for the fourth and final spot in the tournament, with two contests remaining for each team.
The Bears clinch a berth with any combination of two wins by UNC or two losses by South Dakota State, with Friday the earliest possible day for UNC to secure a berth.
Carson Gross, Kai Wagner and Garrett Fisher registered two hits each, while Branden Sanchez, Caden Wagner, Austin Bunn and Craig Kenny notched one each.
Logan Moser and Zach Hose combined for three scoreless innings, with three hits, allowed one walk and struck out two. Moser surrendered a hit and walked one, in two innings. Hose retired two of the five batters he faced by striking out.
Kai Wagner drove in the Bear's first run with an RBI single, scoring Jackson Romero. Fisher followed with a double down the leftfield line and plating Sanchez. Caden Wagner lifted a sacrifice fly to straight-away center, cutting the deficit to 9-3 when Kai Wagner touched home.
The Bison opened a 9-0 advantage with three in the first, four in the second and two in the fourth.
