5/15/2024 12:30:00 PM | Baseball
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado continues the final road trip of the Summit League schedule at North Dakota State Thursday-Saturday.
UNC holds the fourth and final spot for the Summit League Tournament – hosted by Oral Roberts May 22-26. North Dakota State (13-10-1) and Omaha (14-12-1) clinched berths in the tournament last weekend. The Bears lead South Dakota State by a half-game, with three remaining for both squads.
St. Thomas (14-9) wins the regular-season title with two victories over Oral Roberts. The Tommies are ineligible for the tournament as the program transitions from Division III to Division I. This is year three of five the Tommies are completing, so the earliest they would be eligible for the tournament is 2027.
Northern Colorado Clinching Scenarios
The Bears' magic number to clinch is three and they currently control their destiny.
If the Bears sweep North Dakota State, UNC clinches a spot in the tournament.
If the Bears go 2-1 at NDSU, UNC clinches with a loss by SDSU, or St. Thomas sweeps ORU.
If the Bears go 1-2 at NDSU, UNC clinches with two wins by Omaha over South Dakota State.
If the Bears go 0-3 at North Dakota State, UNC clinches if Omaha sweeps South Dakota State.
