UNC Sets Several School Records at the Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Northern Colorado track and field opened its outdoor season with several school records and strong performances at the Aztec Invitational on the campus of San Diego State University.
Jesse Hayward set the school record and won the 800-meter run at 1:49.73.
Jerome Campbell secured the school record and won the 110 hurdles with a time of 13.58.
Alexia Austin set the school record and won the 100 hurdles with a mark of 13.71.
Regina Mpigachai won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:22.32.
"Today was a solid start for our teams for the outdoor season. How our student-athletes competed over the weekend was very impressive for a season opener," said UNC head track and field coach Wayne Angel. "Many of our student-athletes are already qualified for the first round of the NCAA championships with their performances at the Aztec Invitational."
Mpigachai placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.55.
August Van De Wiejer placed third in the 400-meter run with a time of 47.79.
Mpigachai currently leads the Big Sky Conference in the 1500-meter and 800-meter events. She also ranks 11th and 16th in the 800-meter and 1500-meters in the country.
Campbell leads the Big Sky Conference and is fifth in the country in the 110 hurdles.
The Bears return to action on March 29 and March 30 at the Jack Christensen at Colorado State.
