COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Syd Cole, star setter on Northern Colorado's volleyball team began competition at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Program Friday.
The event runs Friday through Sunday at the Colorado Springs Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.
"This is a great opportunity for Syd to play and experience great volleyball right here in our state for a couple of days," Northern Colorado Head Coach Lyndsey Oates said. "She is certainly capable of playing at a really high level and this will be great exposure for her."
The U.S. Women's National Team and U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team utilize the three-day event to evaluate over 200 players for consideration for selection to the two teams.
"The Open Program is an excellent opportunity for our Women's National Team staff to observe USA Volleyball hopefuls under one roof," said U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly. "This country is filled with young volleyball talent. For our Women's National Team to sustain competitive excellence, our WNT staff must be dialed into the growing potential throughout our National Team Development Program as well as top NCAA student-athletes."
