Bears Defeat Grizzlies at Home in Four sets

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Volleyball (11-13, 8-3 Big Sky) continued its strong conference play on Saturday night, earning a key win over Montana (14-8, 6-5 Big Sky) at Bank of Colorado Arena.
The Grizzlies came out strong, narrowly taking the opening set 26-24. The Bears responded with authority in the second, dominating 25-13 to even the match. Montana gained an early edge in the third, but Northern Colorado quickly regrouped, capitalizing on defensive gaps to swing the momentum. The fourth set was a tight battle throughout, with the Bears pulling away late to seal the victory, 25-21.
Four Bears finished in double figures in kills. Zoe Gibbs led the attack with 13 while hitting an impressive .391. Isabell Bennet and Alayna Tessena each added 12 kills, and Brynn Reines chipped in 11 along with 13 digs for a double-double performance.
Nerea Alvarez Jorge directed the offense, dishing out 45 assists on the night, while Bella LePore anchored the defense with 14 digs. As a team, Northern Colorado tallied 57 digs in total.
With the victory, the Bears extended their winning streak against Montana to 22 consecutive matches and completed the season sweep over the Grizzlies.

The Bears will turn their focus to the road as they travel to face Portland State on Thursday, November 6, followed by a match up with Sacramento State on Saturday, November 8, marking their final road trip of the regular season.
