Reynolds, Bloch led Bears past Air Force

GREELEY, Colo. – Langston Reynolds and Zach Bloch helped Northern Colorado (7-5) earn its second-consecutive win over Air Force (3-8) with an 81-76 victory at Bank of Colorado Arena Monday.
UNC held the Falcons to 1 of 18 from 3-point range, while the Bears knocked down 5 of 13. At the free-throw line, Air Force converted 57.6% (19-33), while UNC sank 20 of 23 (87.0%).
Bloch finished with 15 points, including three important 3-pointers in the final five minutes. Reynolds recorded his first double-double this season with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Air Force sliced the deficit to five with a 7-2 run, when Bloch drained his first 3-pointer with 4:58 remaining and pushed the margin out to 68-60. Following a pair of free throws by the Falcons, Bloch buried his second triple and opened the gap to 71-62.
A 9-5 spurt by Air Force sliced the deficit to five when Block and his third 3-pointer, extending the Bears cushion to 79-71, with 99 seconds remaining.
The Falcons moved to within one possession at 79-76 on a pair of free throws, a layup and a dunk, with 41 ticks left. With the shot clock about to expire, Quinn Denker iced the victory for UNC with a fadeaway jumper, his only made bucket of the night, with 12 seconds remaining.
Following a timeout, Denker corralled a missed 3-point attempt by Air Force at the horn.
Brock Wisne netted 10 points, while Marcell McCreary added nine and six rebounds. He improved to 3-0 in the rivalry, including the last two as a member of the Bears squad. He played with Air Force, which defeated UNC in Greeley in 2022.
Jaron Rillie tallied six points, five rebounds and seven assists. Isaiah Hawthorne netted nine points and five rebounds. Egan Shields chipped in with seven points and three rebounds.
UP NEXT: UNC closes out the nonconference portion of its slate against in-state rival Denver in the capital city Saturday at 3 p.m.
