Bears Open Season at Wyoming Invite

GREELEY, Colo. – Summer Olson and Jesse Hayward paced University of Northern Colorado as the cross-country teams lifted the lid on the 2023 campaign Saturday at the Wyoming Invite.
Olson led the women on the Little America 5k course, finishing 16th in a time of 19 minutes, 22.6 seconds, helping the Bears to a fourth-place finish. Chloe Rylance chased Olson home, crossing one spot back at 19:30.5.
Shantell Hafner, Julia Thigpen and Claire Nowels rounded out the top five for the Bears.
On the men's side, Hayward inked a top-20 finish in a time of 16:05.0, leading the squad to a sixth-place result. Isaac Rascon and Zach Wells, Colton Magnuson and Noah Osmond scored for UNC.

The Bears return to action Sept. 16 at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational, hosted by Nebraska, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
