Northern Colorado Makes Program Debut in NCAA Division I Softball Championships

SEATTLE, Wash. – Washington defeated Northern Colorado 10-2 in the opening round of the Seattle Regional Friday evening at the Husky Softball Stadium. It's the first time the Bears qualified for and competed in the NCAA Division I Softball Championships.
As a team, the Bears recorded seven hits.
Alyssa Wenzel batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and Amailee Morales finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Paola Villegas, Alison Steinker, Carson Fischer, and Peyton Gale each added a hit.
Erin Caviness started and absorbed the setback. The Thornton, Colorado native tossed three and two-third innings, scattered seven hits, allowed five runs (one earned), walked one batter, and struck out one.
The Bears return to action Saturday and match up with Big Ten opponent Minnesota at 5:30 p.m. (MTN).
