Northern Colorado Softball Season Comes to Close at NCAA Championships

SEATTLE, Wash. – Minnesota defeated Northern Colorado 4-0 and the storybook season ended at the Seattle Regional for the Bears.
"I thought we went out, and we just played hard," UNC head softball coach Dedeann Pendelton-Helm. "It's hard to lose and have to go home, but we raised the bar for UNC softball, which is awesome."
The Bears, which were picked to finish last in the Big Sky preseason rankings and captured the program's first Big Sky Conference Championship, competed against Power 5 programs in back-to-back days.
Minnesota, which competes in the Big Ten Conference, couldn't shake the Bears in large part to Erin Caviness. The Thornton, Colorado native tossed a complete game and scattered 11 hits, allowed four runs, and walked two batters while striking out five batters.
Caviness threw 115 pitches, including 74 for a strike.
