GREELEY, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado men's golf team heads to Scottsdale, Ariz., for the 2023 Big Sky Championship this Monday-Wednesday, April 24-26. The tournament is being held at the Talking Stick Golf Club and will be played as a par 70.

Jack Castiglia enters the tournament as the Bears' leader this season with a 72.04 stroke average, and has recorded 10 rounds under par this season, including a season-best 68 at the Seattle Redhawk Invitational on April 3.

Yuze Zhang, a freshman from Beijing, China, has the second-best average on the team with a 73.42. At the Bill Cullum Invitational, Oct. 10-11, Zhang finished tied for 17th overall with a three-round score of 217. At the Seattle Redhawk Invitational, Zhang turned in a season-best 65 in the second round, which included a hole-in-one on the ninth hole.

Gage Messingham, a freshman from Arvada, Colo., is averaging 74.10 this season. He turned in his best performance of the season at the Loyola Invitational, in which he shot a 66 in the third round and finished tied for 17th overall.

TJ Shehee, a senior from Mead, Colo., holds a 73.75 stroke average going into the championships. This is his second Honorable Mention All-Big Sky accolade, having earned the award during the 2021-22 season. Shehee turned in his season-best performance at the Seattle Redhawk Invitational, shooting a 68 in the second round and finishing tied for 9th overall.

Alessio Battista rounds out the competition for the Bears at the tournament. A freshman from San Giovanni, Italy, Battista has played in all nine tournaments this season for the Bears and enters with a stroke average of 74.93.
