After a scoreless first inning, the Bears scored two runs in the top of the second.
Carson Gross scored from third base on a wild pitch, and Hayden Heinze delivered a sacrifice fly to push across Dominic Palma.
Jacob Banister drilled a solo home run to right field in the top half of the seventh frame.
Palma also batted 2-for-3 to lead the Bears.
Jake Tuttle started on the mound and absorbed the loss. He tossed one and a third innings, scattered three hits and allowed four runs. Murphy Granger entered in relief and threw two and a third innings, allowing four hits, four runs and one walk while fanning four batters. Dylan Smith and Zach Herrick split the difference the rest of the way.
UNC returns to the diamond on Friday to begin a three-game series at UC-San Diego.
