UNC and UW Complete Saturday Doubleheader

SEATTLE, Wash. – Northern Colorado and Washington played a Saturday doubleheader, and the Huskies defeated the Bears by scores of 6-0 and 9-1.
The opening game of the twin bill was 43 and overcast and the Bears struggled to gain traction on offense.
Ely Ruiz started absorbed the loss. Ruiz tossed one and two third innings, allowed four hits, and four runs while walking five and striking out one.
Zack Herrick entered in relief and threw six and one third innings, scattering eight hits, allowed two runs and no walks, and fanned four batters. Herrick induced 10 flyouts and five groundball outs.
Caden Wagner batted 1-for-3.
In game two the Bears scattered seven hits.
Craig Kenny batted 2-for-4 with an RBI. Hayden Heinze, Jackson Romero, Austin Bunn, Bradley Hallock, and Wagner each picked up a hit.
Dylan Smith was credited with the loss.
Smith tossed five innings and allowed seven hits and six runs (five earned) and one walk while striking out three batters.
Jake Storey and Kevin Sharp entered in relief and pitched the rest of the distance.
UNC and UW conclude their four-game series with a single nine-inning affair Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
