Bears Fall to Montana

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado fell 3-0 against Montana at Jackson Stadium Sunday.
Prior to the match, the Bears coaching staff and senior athletics administrators honored the five seniors - Annie Hughes, Rayna Kenney, Lucy Roberts, Kailey Seymour and Lily Thimsen – for their contributions to the program and university. They were members of the 2021 team that won the Big Sky regular-season championship.
Melina Faris, Brooke Holmberg and Rachel Mortensen tallied two shots each, while Mia Norman, Lauren Woodhull, Sydney Engelkins and Anneliese Wong notched one apiece.
Norman, Holmberg and Faris accounted for the three attempts on frame for UNC.
In a tightly contested opening 45 minutes, Montana capitalized on a favorable call in the box, with less than five minutes to go in the half. Maddie Ditta stepped to the penalty dot and put the Grizzlies up 1-0. The Grizzlies iced the contest with two markers in two and a half minutes, early in the second half. Following a goal in the 56th minute, they cashed in on another PK, with 31 minutes remaining.

"I like the way our team continued to fight," UNC head coach Tim Barrera said. "Kaya [Lindberg] played well despite the final result."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Northern Colorado accrued six while allowing one from the Grizzlies.
The Bears committed five and induced nine by Montana.
Montana outshot the Bears 16-10, including 8-3 on net.
Kaya Lindberg registered five saves for UNC.
