GREELEY, Colo. – For the second game in a row the University of Northern Colorado football team took a top-ranked Big Sky Conference team to the brink, narrowly falling to No. 4/No. 5 Sacramento State 21-13 Saturday afternoon.

The UNC defense forced a turnover on the opening driver when Franky Morales recovered a bad pitch and put the Bears in an early scoring position.

UNC turned the turnover into a 39-yard Hunter Green field goal and an early 3-0 lead.

The Hornets countered with a pair of touchdowns and led 14-3.

Wide receiver Brayden Munroe, a true freshman and Parker, Colorado native, found his way behind the Hornet's secondary and Jacob Sirmon found him for a 41-yard touchdown pass at 7:47 in the second quarter. It was Munroe's first career touchdown.

Green added his second field goal late in the fourth quarter.

Game Notes

The Bears generated 332 yards of total offense and held the ball for 29:03.
Jacob Sirmon completed 20-of-39 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown.
Munroe finished with three receptions for 66 yards. Blake Haggerty added a team-high five receptions for 42 yards.
Dustin Johnson finished with a team-high nine tackles.
Marcus Howard and Vincent King each recorded a sack.
