Hoage Named to Preseason Buck Buchanan Watch List

UNC junior linebacker David Hoage is one of 35 on the Buck Buchanan Watch list
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado linebacker has been recognized as one of the top defensive players at the FCS level in the country. The junior is one of 35 to be named to the 2022 Buck Buchanan Preseason Watch List.
Hoage adds the Buchanan Award Watch List to his catalog of preseason honors including second team All-American by Stats Perform and preseason All-Big Sky.
He turned heads in 2021 on his way to a third team All-America selection by the AP and Stats Perform in 2021 and made the Hero Spots Sophomore All-America team.
Hoage led the Big Sky in tackles for a loss with 22 and ranked third in the nation on his way to a second team All-Big Sky selection. He is coming off a season where he set the program's Division I record for sacks with 10.5 while he added in another eight QB hurries. Hoage totaled 70 tackles on the year.
He is one of five representatives from the Big Sky Conference.
The award for the best defensive player in the FCS level is named after NFL Hall of Famer Buck Buchanan. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs after an illustrious career at Grambling State.
