After a successful run in the Western Athletic Conference, Northern Colorado dipped its toes into the Summit League for the first time in 2022. An opening weekend sweep over Western Illinois helped the Bears to an 8-16 mark in the Conference.Â

Graduate Josh Glenn was named one of the top-50 catchers in all of Division I baseball by D1baseball.com ahead of the 2022 season.Â

The 2022 season wasn't without a record-breaking performance. In an 18-7 win over Colorado Christian, Kevin Sharp, Quentin Parr, Hunter Miller, Jayden Metz, Ashton Mansur and Sam Colehower combined for a program-record 19 strikeouts.Â

Junior Shaydon Kubo had been in the weight room over the winter. The Hawaiian led the team in home runs with eight as the second baseman earned First Team All-Summit League honors.Â

Legendary head coach Carl Iwasaki called it a career after 12 seasons at the helm of the Northern Colorado program. A UNC alum, Iwasaki piled up over 200 wins in the Blue and Gold, the fourth-most in program history and more than 300 in his 18-year head coach coaching career.Â
