GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Track and Field came out on top in multiple events at the Rock Chalk Classic hosted by Kansas on Saturday.
Â
The Bears claimed a total of six podium finishes in four events, three of which were gold medals.
Â
Melodie Leroudier started things off for UNC, blowing away her competition to place first in the 5000m. She clocked a time of 17:00.69, crossing the line a whole 14 seconds before the second-place finisher.
Â
In the 110m hurdles, freshman Jerome Campbell kept his winning ways alive as well. He finished with a time of 14.26 to secure first-place and another gold medal for the Bears. But this was not the only event Campbell placed in while in Kansas, taking seventh in the 100m dash as well.
Â
Earning a silver medal for UNC, Chloe Rylance tabbed a second-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase. She had a final time of 11:30.36.
Â
The Bears' men's triple jump squad was on fire as they swept the entire event while in Kansas and accounted for half of the team's total podium finishes. Qwazon Al-Khaliq led the jumpers with a mark of 15.62m, to round out the team's gold medal wins. He was closely followed by two fellow teammates, Welre Olivier and Tyler Thimsen, who placed second and third, respectively.
Â
The team will now return to the Centennial State for their next competition as they compete at the Air Force Twilight Open to conclude the regular season.
