GREELEY, Colo. – Shaydon Kubo stayed hot as Northern Colorado outhit Oral Roberts for most of the afternoon but the consistent effort from the Golden Eagles gave them their second win of the weekend, 10-1.
Southpaw starter Iain Isdale was up to the task in the early parts of the ballgame. Despite surrendering an unearned run in the second inning, the Colorado native remained undeterred and kept plowing along.
Isdale struck out three Golden Eagles in four full innings of work, giving up six hits.
In the bottom end of the third, the speedy Cameron Cromer had ideas of tying the game and maybe more. Cromer's one-out triple set up Shaydon Kubo for an RBI single to tie up the contest.
ORU responded, though, scoring runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to retake control, 7-1.
Northern Colorado threatened in the sixth frame, loading the bases with just one out. There wouldn't be a rally today, however, as the Golden Eagles shut the door on the scoring opportunity.
Oral Roberts added three insurance runs in the eighth inning before closing the deal in the ninth to win its second game of the weekend, 10-1.
Game Notes
