UNC hosts Colorado Christian for first time in midweek matchup

GREELEY, Colo. – Looking to keep the winning ways going, Northern Colorado hosts Colorado Christian for the first time between the two schools on Tuesday.

Leading Off
Cameron Cromer is proving to be a valuable asset in the lead-off spot for the Bears. Since Summit League play began, the Abilene Christian transfer is leading the conference in batting average (.441) and OPS (1.184).
Redshirt freshman Craig Kenny produced one of his best weekends in a Blue and Gold uniform to date. Starting every game at catcher, Kenny unleashed two multi-hit games, including his first three-hit game as a Bear to hit .545, scoring five runs across three games.
Josh Glenn notched his third double of the season on Sunday against SDSU. The mark is tied to the most in the Summit League and No. 41 in the country.
Hayden Heinze continues to execute the little things. With six sacrifice bunts this year, the sophomore from Fort Collins ranks 25th in the nation.
Last Time Out
Northern Colorado took one of three from South Dakota State behind impressive outings from Dylan Day and Logan Chase. Craig Kenny batted .545, recorded his first three-hit game of his career and started every game at catcher over the holiday weekend.
Scouting the Cougars
Third-year head coach Paul Koss brings a CCU team with a 12-24 record, including an 8-24 conference mark into Jackson Field. The Cougars currently sit eighth in the RMAC standings.
While Koss' team hasn't produced an alarming amount of home runs, Colorado Christian has found extra bases in other ways. CCU ranks fourth in the nation in triples with 19 and 12th in doubles per game, averaging 2.38. Their .491 slugging percentage is only fifth-best in the RMAC but 41st in the country in all of Division II baseball.
Junior Wyatt Crenshaw leads the back in three-baggers. The Gilbert, Arizona native boasts six on the year, which ranks fifth in the nation. His .822 slugging is also top-20 in Division II.
Amongst those with at least 50 at-bats on the season, Colorado Christians claim nine different players with a batting averaging north of .300, including Major Maydon who's showcasing a .462 average with six doubles and three home runs.
History against Colorado Christian
UNC met Colorado Christian for the first time in program history a season ago. The Bears took two of three from the Cougars in Lakewood but the final, 9-8, victory produced a thrilling 15-inning affair. Tuesday's game will be the first contest between the two schools in Greeley.
Looking Ahead
It'll be back to the road for head coach Carl Iwasaki and the Bears as UNC heads to St. Thomas for a matchup with fellow the fellow Summit League newcomer.
