More fireworks at Jackson as Bears' second straight walk off earns series sweep

Northern Colorado showed its character once again on Sunday, coming through in the game's final moments to sweep the Leathernecks, 9-8.
Head coach Carl Iwasaki's Bears went right to work in the bottom end of the first frame. Shaydon Kubo had already booked reservations at first with a single up the middle and two wild pitches later, was standing just 90 feet away from home.
RBI leader Josh Glenn added to his stack, scoring the Hawaiian on a grounder to short.
UNC prepped for a big inning in the third after singles from Kubo and Hayden Heinze with a nine-pitch walk from Jake King in between to load the bases in front of Josh Glenn.
Once more, the Bears' catcher delivered with a bases-clearing triple to break open the contest, 5-0.
Two batters later, Garrett Fisher executed the squeeze play to perfection to bring Glenn across to make it a six-run advantage.
Western Illinois wasn't going to go away quietly, however. A four-spot in the top of the fourth brought the Leathernecks back into the ballgame.
Taking the reins from starting pitcher Riley Bost, Dylan Day pitched a gem. Blanking WIU in innings five through seven, Day grabbed three strikeouts while allowing just one hit.
His only major blemish came in the top of the eighth on a pinch-hit home run but Craig Kenny backed up his pitcher, gunning down a runner trying to steal to clear the danger.
Cade Moeller had given Northern Colorado some insurance in the eighth with a two-out RBI double to the gap in left-center, a run that proved to be pivotal later in the contest.
The gritty Leathernecks squad had the visiting fans roaring after scoring three runs in the ninth to take the lead for the first time of the day.
UNC was having none of it, though.
After dropping a ball in centerfield the half-inning before, Hayden Heinze demonstrated his un-equaled resilience by leading off the ninth with a single. A batter later, Jake King walked to put the winning run aboard and a double-steal moved everyone up into scoring position.
Iwasaki could not have asked his Bears to execute any better as Kubo grounded to short to tie the game, setting up a perfect moment for pinch-hitter Lincoln Turner.
Cool and calm as could be, Turner laced a single to centerfield to walk off WIU for the second straight day, 9-8.
