Baseball finds groove to win both games of Sunday doubleheader

Behind a career performance from Iain Isdale and a rock-solid team effort in game two, the Bears won both games of Sunday's doubleheader.
GAME 1
An early run from Mount Marty didn't deter the Bears, or Caden Moeller, from putting the Blue and Gold on the scoreboard.
Moeller rocketed a two-run shot, his first of the year, to vault Northern Colorado into the lead.
The visitors rallied for three runs in the second inning and two more in the third before the Bears retaliated.
Jake King cannot do wrong at the plate right now. His walk in the bottom end of the third led to a run for UNC as the home side continued to chip away at the Mount Marty lead.
Northern Colorado found the inning it was looking for in the bottom of the fourth, though.
Hayden Heinze's single ignited the best offensive inning for the Bears this season. Caden Moeller grabbed a two-RBI double and Garrett Fisher secured an equally impressive two-RBI triple as UNC went for five runs on five hits, eventually taking the lead on Craig Kenny's RBI single.
The Lancers tied up the game in the fifth, setting up a tension-filled final couple of innings.
While Mount Marty was holding serve, Iain Isdale made sure to keep up his end of the bargain. The fiery young lefty pitched a perfect 3.2 innings with a career-high seven strikeouts to blank MMC.
As the game drifted past the schedule seven innings, UNC finally put together a threatening effort in the bottom of the ninth.
Craig Kenny kicked the frame off with a single. Cameron Cromer and Aiden Leahy quickly followed with singles of their own, setting up the ultimate opportunity for Heinze.
Swinging on the first pitch he saw, the Fort Collins native collected his third hit of the afternoon, a walk-off single to clinch UNC's, 9-8, victory.
GAME 2
Dylan Day earned the Sunday start for the Bears and continued UNC's momentum that it had garnered in game one of the day. Back-to-back 1-2-3 innings gave Day the confidence he and Northern Colorado needed to get off on the right foot.
While Mount Marty picked up a run in the top of the third, head coach Carl Iwasaki's Bears were ready to punch back.
After Jake King singled to keep his eight-game hit streak alive, Shaydon Kubo stepped to the plate with malicious intentions.
Jumping on the first pitch of the at-bat, Kubo launched his first home run of the season over the left-field wall to give the Bears the lead.
One they would not relinquish.
An inning later, Hayden Heinze added to his already impressive Sunday. His single to centerfield might've got the speedy Chase Cromer home anyway but an error from the Lancers gave Heinze the opportunity to race around the base path, flying all the home to double UNC's total.
Ashton Mansur took the reins from Day in the fifth, and like Isdale before him, answered every question Mount Marty was asking.
Carson Gross and King each drove in a run in the sixth to give Mansur some cushion. But the big right-hander had everything he needed, capping off Northern Colorado's second win of the day, 6-3.
