Men's hoops look to carry momentum with them to California

UNC men's basketball squares off against Sacramento State
GREELEY, Colo. – Fresh off a sweep of Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado men's basketball looks to keep the momentum going when they head to Sacramento State on Thursday. The Bears and Hornets will tip off at 8 pm MT.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado completed the sweep of Northern Arizona with a complete effort in the 82-60 home win on Monday night,
- Daylen Kountz had his fifth straight 20-point game with a game-high 22 points.
- Kountz continues to lead the Big Sky in scoring averaging 20.8 points per game and ranks 11th in the nation. In Big Sky play he is averaging 22.9 ppg.
- Matt Johnson II dished out a career-high eight assists. He only had one turnover to go with the eight assists plus five points.
- Dru Kuxhausen extended his streak to seven-game with 10-plus points scored. He had 12 on Monday all coming from behind the arc.
- Kuxhausen ranks second in the Big Sky in both three-pointers per game (3.17) and three-point field goal percentage (44.8). That also ranks in the top 25 nationally for both stats.
- Bodie Hume missed out on a double-double by one rebound with 18 points and nine boards. He stuffed the stat sheet adding two assists, two steals and a block.
- Kur Jongkuch grabbed 13 rebounds on Monday to lead the Bears.
- Sacramento State won the first matchup between the teams this year 85-71 in Greeley.
Scouting the Hornets
Sacramento State has won just one other Big Sky game since defeating the Bears a month ago in Greeley. The Hornets narrowly defeated Idaho State at home 71-70.
Bryce Fowler continues to lead Sacramento State averaging 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Only one other Hornet is scoring in double figures in Zach Chappell with 12.7.
Sacramento ranks third in the Big Sky allowing its opponents to score just 69.7 points per game.
Around the Big Sky
It will be a busy night of action with five games going, four of them starting at 7 pm MT. League leader Weber State hits the road to face Eastern Washington.
