GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado opens its 2026-27 season Monday, hosting Colorado College at Bank of Colorado Arena at 7:30 p.m. MT.
It is Steve Smiley's seventh season as head coach and his 11th on the Northern Colorado staff. The Bears have won their last three season openers, all at home, and are 6-0 against Colorado College under Smiley, scoring over 90 points four times and over 100 twice.
Reynolds Returns
Langston Reynolds is back in Greeley for one final season and was named Big Sky Preseason Most Valuable Player after spending 2025-26 at Minnesota. In his first stint as a Bear, he earned First Team All-Big Sky honors and was named Big Sky
Player of the Week three times, averaging 16.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He ranked 20th nationally and first in the Big Sky in field goal percentage at 59.3 percent, helping lead the Bears to a share of the Big Sky regular season title and the program's first-ever NIT bid.
At Minnesota he averaged 11.6 points per game, played all 33 games with 26 starts and led the team with 150 assists, tied for the 10th-most in a single season in program history. Across 125 collegiate games and 63 starts, he has totaled 1,171 points, 426 rebounds and 330 assists.
A New-Look Roster
Northern Colorado returns six players from last season's team and seven who have played at UNC before. Among the newcomers are transfers Andrew Crawford, Kaidon Rayfield and Chiante Tramble.
The Bears were picked second in both the preseason media and coaches Big Sky polls, behind Montana State in each.
