Bears head west to face #4/5 Sacramento State

GREELEY, Colo.—In the first of back-to-back matchups against top-5 teams, Northern Colorado (2-3, 1-1 Big Sky) will travel to face No. 4/5 Sacramento State on Saturday, Oct. 8. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT at Hornet Stadium.
TELEVISION: The game will be available to ESPN+ subscribers on ESPN.com and the ESPN app.
RADIO: Live radio coverage of Northern Colorado football games can be found on KFKA 103.1 FM / 1310 AM with Blake Olson (play-by-play) and Aaron Rath (analyst). Coverage will begin an hour before kickoff with the Blue & Gold Pregame Show featuring interviews from Coach Ed McCaffrey and selected players.
ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE (4-0, 1-0 BIG SKY): Ranked No. 5 in the FCS Coaches' Poll and No. 4 in the Stats FCS Poll, the Hornets (4-0) are one of eight remaining undefeated teams in FCS. With a high-powered offense, Sacramento State averages 45.8 points per game, a rate good for No. 4 in the FCS. The team's 4-0 start is the second in school history, the previous occurring in the 1982 season. The Hornets edged UNC, 27-24, in Greeley last season.

IN EVERY GAME: The Bears have stayed within a single score deep into the second half in each of its three losses, including at FBS Wyoming. UNC trailed Houston Christian 39-34 late in the 4th quarter, trailed Wyoming 16-10 until 6:50 remaining in the game, and was within a field goal (31-28) with seven minutes to play in the 3rd at Idaho.
BIG SKY ROUNDUP: Five Big Sky teams were ranked in the top 25 in the most recent FCS polls, including four different teams landing inside the top seven. Picking up first-place votes in both polls, Montana leads the way with No. 2/No. 3 spots. Sacramento State and Montana State reside in the top five while Weber State is ranked No. 7 in both polls. UC Davis and Idaho continue to receive votes to give the Big Sky seven total representatives. .
LAST TIME OUT: With 1:21 remaining in the first half, the Bears enjoyed a 20-17 lead at Idaho thanks to an Elijah Dotson 2-yard score. Idaho managed to recapture the advantage before the half and added to their tally early in the 3rd for a 31-20 lead, but the Bears pulled to within three points (31-28) late in the 3rd quarter with another Dotson score, this time an 11-yard catch from Dylan McCaffrey. The Vandals, however, scored TDs on their next three possessions en route to the 55-35 win.
