Soccer Takes Final Road Trip of the Season to Weber State and Idaho State

GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Soccer will hit the road one last time in 2022 as they prepare for two matches this weekend to wrap up regular season competition. They will face off against Weber State and Idaho State on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Scouting the Wildcats
Northern Colorado will head to Ogden, Utah as they take on the Weber State Wildcats with their current overall record of 3-11 and a Big Sky record of 2-4. The Wildcats enter the match coming off of a 4-2 win over Idaho State in their most recent match last week.

Head Coach Craig Sanders' squad includes some players to watch including Morgan Furmaniak, Brynlee Meyerhoffer, and Mekell Moss. Furmaniak leads the team with four goals and one assist on the season. Three of these goals came in the team's most recent 4-2 win against Idaho State. Meyerhoffer has two goals and one assist on the season, accounting for the fourth goal in the Idaho State win. The team's goalkeeper, Moss, has recorded 42 saves and one shutout so far in 2022.

History Against Weber State
The Bears have an even all-time series with the Wildcats with a record of 8-8-4. This includes a 5-2-1 mark at Jackson Stadium, a 1-4-3 mark in Ogden, and a 1-1 mark on neutral turf. In the two teams' most recent matchup last season, WSU got the best of UNC, 3-2, in the first round of the Big Sky Tournament.Â

The Idaho State Bengals will take on the Bears with an overall record of 2-10-2 and a Big Sky record of 1-5. They are coming off a 4-2 loss against Weber State last week. However, they will also take on Montana on Friday, before facing the Bears come Sunday.

Six Bengals currently tie for the team's leading scorer with one goal. However, Kaylan Buchanan's goal was the game winner in ISU's lone Big Sky victory of the season against Sacramento State earlier this season. Kelsey Jargstorf, the team's goalie, has recorded 45 saves and two shutouts this season.

UNC leads the all-time series against the Bengals with an overall record of 11-7-1. The Bears are 7-3 in Greeley, 4-3-1 in Pocatello, and 0-1 on neutral turf. Most recently, the Bears secured a dominating victory over the Bengals in Greeley last season with a final score of 7-2. Northern Colorado now looks to pick up where they left off and bring a win back to Greeley on Sunday.

Friday's match against the Wildcats will have a 7 p.m. MT kickoff, while Sunday's game with the Bengals will begin at 1 p.m. MT. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
