Late Score by Lumberjacks Too Much for Bears to Overcome on Thursday

GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Soccer put up a strong performance in a back-and-forth match against Northern Arizona Thursday night, but a late goal by the Lumberjacks was too much for the Bears to overcome, resulting in a 1-0 loss.
The first half of the match was evenly matched as both teams created scoring chances while looking to get on the board. UNC delivered a total of four shots in the first 45 minutes.
Goalkeeper Kaya Lindberg also remained perfect between the posts in the first half with two saves, to make it even 0-0 at half time.
The second half saw heightened action as the two teams battled to get a leg up on their competition. A string of free kicks for the Bears near the middle of the half brought the team's best chance of finding the goal, however the Lumberjack's defense was ready and were able to clear the attempts.
The back-and-forth nature of the second period made for aggressive play by both teams. This paid off for NAU at the 83-minute mark when they slipped one passed Lindberg to claim a 1-0 lead.
UNC did not take their foot off the gas as they pushed in the final minutes leading to the end of regulation to find an equalizer. This included two strong shots on goal by Britney Donais and Ashley Hillman that forced saves, however their efforts fell just short with the match ending in the Lumberjacks' favor.
