GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado's perfect run has come to an end. Despite another 12-kill, eight-dig performance from senior Kailey Jo Ince, the Bears couldn't get past Texas Tech, 0-3 (12-25, 25-27, 16-25).
The opening set featured a lot of the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech hit .448, grabbed four aces and Reagan Cooper had seven kills as TTU ran away to an opening set win, 25-12.
Northern Colorado figured things out in the second, though.
KJ Ince tallied a team-high five kills, hitting .455 in the second stanza. The Big Sky Offensive Player of the week was followed closely by Rachel Hickman, Lauren Strain and Makenzie Harris, each of whom racked up four kills.
Ince would finish with 12 kills, hitting a team-high .323 and collected eight digs.
Though UNC didn't record an ace in the set, its aggressive serving style led to a number of out-of-system plays for Texas Tech.
Trailing 20-23, many inside the Bank of Colorado Arena might've given up hope but following a service error, two kills from Harris and one from Strain tied the set at 24 and brought the roar of the night.
TTU regrouped, though, finding two straight points from Cooper and a UNC attack error to take the two-set lead.
Both teams didn't play their best in the third. The Red Raiders only hit .167 but six blocks and nine Northern Colorado errors gave Texas Tech the win, 3-0.
