DENVER, Colo. – Northern Colorado Volleyball hot streak continues. Earning a sweep for the second time in as many days, the UNC knocked off Mercer, 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-17).
Aggressive serving was the name of the game against the Pioneers, and the Bears were determined to keep that effort going versus Mercer.
Kyndall Feather kicked the ace parade off in the first set, giving UNC an early cushion.
Though Mercer countered with five straight points midway through the opening frame, the serving of Laura Katarzynski and Makenzie Harris helped the Blue and Gold finish off the first set.
Following a five-kill first frame, Kailey Jo Ince continued her prowess in the second. Opening with the serve, Ince rattled off seven straight points, including an ace.
Ince ended with a season-best .579 hitting percentage and 11 kills.
Freshman Annette Baker, earning the first start of her career, grabbed the first kill as a Bear and scrambled for a pair of digs in set No. 2 to help the Bears run away with the second set.
Junior Makenzie Harris also brought her white-hot play to Denver. The Eaton, Colorado native finished with 11 kills on .320 hitting.
Multiple UNC newbies got in on the action in the third set. Mimi Duna and Kelsie Milkowski joined Baker and Maddie Davies in leading the Bears to a sweep.
