Northern Colorado Women Cross Country Debuts at No. 15 in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Rankings

GREELEY, Colo. – After an outstanding second place showing at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational, the Northern Colorado Women's Cross-Country team caught the eyes of the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association, coming in at No. 15 in the Mountain Region rankings released Monday.
"Coach Sickler and I are elated and honored to have our women recognized by the USTFCCCA," said Director of Track & Field and Cross-Country Wayne Angel. "These young ladies have worked extremely hard for this honor. We are arguably in the best region in the United States, and to be ranked among the elite is very special."
The No. 15 ranking is the highest-ranking the program has achieved since 2013 when they were ranked 15th as well. This is only the second time in UNC history that the women have been ranked in the top 15 in the Mountain region. Eight out of 11 Big Sky Conference members are ranked in the top 15 of their regions. Seven in the Mountain Region and one ranked in the West Region.
The Mountain Region also contains five of the top 30 teams in the country as of last week's national poll.

The Bears head to Fayetteville, Arkansas this weekend to compete at the Chili Pepper Festival on Friday, October 1st, a meet that will be composed of many of the top teams in their respective regions.
